Lomond river features spectacular natural beauty in a deep valley. We take advantage of this by fishing the shadows. Steep turns provide shade during mid-day blue sky days.
Casting in these shaded lays turns a "its too sunny" day into fun and excitement. Sun tanning with no fly repellent, while casting to shaded fish you can see in cool water!...what luxury!
Trails follow the river from pool to pool. Anglers can also fish the pockets along the entire river by walking along the shore or in the middle of the river. The salmon take aggressively and jump tremendously in this turbulent, limestone based, spring fed, cold, gin clear river.
We encourage guests to use modern catch and release methods. Cold clear water at 12oC helps with both the fight and recovery after release - especially in August!
While sight fishing for fish....the guide spots something "Hmm...we often find a taking fish over by that rock over there..." After hooking a fish from the lay a sneaky approach is made and a camera stuck in the water. Trying some dry flies is a must! Note that the index finger was only in front of the pectoral fin for a second to reposition the fish.
